Can Yoga White offer me a spiritual path?

The spiritual path – is simply the journey of living our lives.

Marianne Williamson

The spiritual path wrecks the body

And afterwards restores it to health.

It destroys the house to unearth the treasure,

And with that treasure builds it better than before.

Rumi

Can Yoga White offer me a spiritual path?

Only Spirit can offer you a spiritual path: yours is the job of putting one foot in front of the other with awareness. Yoga White can offer classes, spaces and experiences that can provide fuel and nourishment for your journey into Self.

What is a spiritual journey?

It is a process of coming to know who you are. It is waking up to how you are living your life, and who is living your life. It is the growing or cultivating of Awareness, that can then be shone like a torch into any area of life to illuminate what’s going on there.

Like gently arising from a vivid night-time dream, Awareness shows us that life is an intricate dream: there is the dreamer, but also the One who watches the Dreamer- the One who knows it is just a dream. Life operates on these levels. And as grace descends to meet our rising curiosity, we are shown more and more that Vastness is operating behind the curtains; that we are being breathed and being acted.

The journey lies in simply walking and watching. As we observe ourself in motion we can wake up to the conditioning, the patterning and shaping of the thing we call ‘I’. Once we observe how so much of our life is lived as a ‘reaction to...’ something, we can then begin the work of self-mastery. This is the work of the yogi. Living with awareness.

“We are not aiming at perfection, as that is unattainable. We are aiming at excellence. Excellence is a state of self-mastery. It is when, repeatedly, we have unfolded and unfolded and unfolded every dark corner of ourselves until we can see how we are put together. We know who we are. And this is an ongoing journey. It is a process. Many call this state of excellence ‘enlightenment’. It is when I am fully illuminated, and every dark corner of Self has been uncurled, like a petal, in a loving and compassionate manner. The map can be read in full Light of day. Every pattern, habit, foible, quirk, tic, weakness and gorgeous imperfection is laid out in a neutral way and can be attended to.” Holly Cole

This is shifting track from the path of Karma (sleep-walking through life, creating ripples wherever we go), to the path of Dharma- the Path of Illumination- where we walk wide-awake and fully conscious of our actions and words. We see deeply into the mechanisms by which life operates.

It is a journey of Spirit reclaiming the reins from the mind. It then becomes a balancing act of Spirit fully indwelling body-mind: being both in the world, but not of the world.

How can Yoga White help this process?

We all awaken in different ways. There are myriad paths to walk- all perfectly unfold for each of us according to Grace.

We are drawn to what we are drawn to: the fact that you are here, reading this page means that you are drawn here on some level. Yoga White can facilitate your spiritual process through what it offers– Kundalini Yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan), Sound Immersion, InScribing and the various workshops and classes on offer.

Each class is taught from a place of integrity- at least that is the sincerest intention: it comes from a teacher who is a student first and foremost. Classes are delivered by someone who walks the path herself and knows that the way can be rocky. Knows that words only point to truths beyond the graspings of our minds. Knows that experience alone is the only true teacher. Knows that the first job of the yogi is to show up for daily practice. Knows that the only real teacher resides within the Self.

Yoga is simply one pointing to what lies beyond/ within. It is a construct that delivers us to something profound. It is the shuttle that gets us into Space…the springboard that launches us. We must tread carefully to remember that whatever form our practice takes, it is just the vehicle.

For me, Kundalini Yoga is the vehicle that works. It delivers time and again. It offers a path of Awareness, Self-Mastery and Unfolding. It elevates and uplifts. It is a crisis kit. It is a soothing balm. It is a fire that purifies and scorches. It is sweet water when life feels like drought. It is sustenance. It is Wisdom embodied.  It also walks in the footsteps of all those who have gone before.

It is my sincere hope that these practices, that I am honoured to share, may add paving to your path and a way through these enchanted woods.
